Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July! Today's recipe is the perfect side dish at any barbecue - it is Cheesy Corn on the Cob. The recipe came from a friend and I am not sure where she originally got it from.
Ingredients Needed:
6 ears of corn
1 stick of butter, softened
1 teaspoon Roasted Garlic Chili Powder
Full packet of powdered cheese from Kraft Mac and Cheese
Preheat your grill (or oven) to 400 degrees F
Shuck your corn, removing the silk and husks. Then, in a bowl mix the softened butter, garlic chili powder, and the cheese packet from the macaroni and cheese box.
Then spread the butter mixture on the ears of corn until well coated.
Next, wrap the corn in foil.
Place on the grill and cook for about 30 minutes, turning them every 5 minutes to prevent burning. When done, remove foil and serve.
You can adjust the amount of heat by adding more or less chili powder. Also, since my soon to arrive little girl isn't allowing me to eat anything spicy I took half of the butter and cheese mixture and added Weber Roasted Garlic and Herb seasoning instead of the chili garlic powder and spread that on some of the corn. YUMMY!
If you haven't decorated for the 4th of July yet there is still time and I have another easy and quick idea. I saw this on pinterest and had to try it - Pool Noodle Firecrackers.
Supplies Needed:
A pool noodle
Scrapbook Paper
Firecracker Picks
Tacky Glue
Serrated Knife
First, take the pool noodle and cut into pieces. I cut mine into 3 pieces 7", 10" , and 12". The pool noodle cuts really easily with just a serrated kitchen knife.
Next, cut 3 coordinating pieces of scrapbook paper to the lengths of the cut pieces and wide enough to wrap around and overlap about a quarter inch. Next, I traced the end of the pool noodle on the scrapbook paper. Repeat for all cut pieces. Cut out the three circles.
Then put tacky glue on the large scrapbook paper pieces and wrap the paper around the pool noodle. You will need to hold it for a few minutes to get it to adhere. Then put glue on the circle piece and adhere to the top. Repeat for all 3 cut noodle pieces. Then let the pieces dry.
Once they are dry take a coordinating firecracker pick and poke through the paper on the top of the pool noodles.
The project cost under five dollars and took less than fifteen minutes to complete (not including glue dry time). So you still have time to put some decorations up before the 4th!
I love to decorate for all the holidays and I love candles but it can get expensive to buy colors and scents for all the holidays and places I put candles. So whenever I find a good deal on plain white CHEAP candles I stock up.
But, as you can see, it looks boring. So what I do is take a strip of ribbon that coordinates in color and/or theme and dress them up. Cut the ribbon a little bit longer than it would take to wrap around the candle. Then I take some double stick tape and use that to hold the ribbon to the candle. I ONLY do this on candles that I DO NOT BURN. If you are going to burn the candles please remove the ribbons before burning.
This is an easy way to dress up plain candles and add some holiday sparkle!
