When I was decorating my alcove for 4th of July I realized I had nothing to hang on the empty hook. I wanted a wreath but didn't want to spend a lot of money. Here is what I came up with.
Supplies Needed:
A 12" wreath form (any material you want - I had Styrofoam on hand)
2 9ft 4th of July garlands from the Dollar Store
Scrap Ribbon
I took the garlands and started at one end of the wreath and wrapped the garlands around. Instead of gluing the ends I just used a pin to secure the garland ends to the wreath. Since the garland is full you are not able to see the pin. Then I took a piece of scrap ribbon left from Christmas that is red and silver. I tied it around the wreath and made a bow. Then, I hung it on the hook.
Altogether the wreath cost under $5.00 and took about 10 minutes! Thanks for visiting!
Today's recipe is one my older son came up with a couple of summers ago. He likes to help in the kitchen and cook. Of course, he wanted to make something with pasta. Here is his take on pasta salad - Pepperoni Pasta Salad.
Ingredients Needed:
One Box of Pasta (we used Rigatoni)
Pepperoni
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (we used 1/2 of an 8oz bag)
Kraft Italian Roasted Red Pepper Salad Dressing
First, cook your pasta according to directions on the box. After the pasta is cooked drain it and let it cool. If you are in a rush for time you can run cold water over it or soak it in an ice bath. Next, cut your pepperoni into quarters. How much to add is up to your taste- my boys love pepperoni so they wanted a lot!
Then, add the pasta, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese to a bowl. The next ingredient is the dressing. This is what really makes the dish - we use this dressing for a lot of dishes! Again how much to add is up to you. For a one pound box of pasta I used about 1/2 the bottle.
Next, stir all the ingredients together. At this point I usually chill it in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving. Then enjoy!

While decorating for 4th of July I needed a wreath for the door to my laundry room, I couldn't leave an empty hook up. So I decided to pull out my supplies and see what I could come up with. I decided to make a rag wreath.
Supplies needed:
Scraps of fabric
Wreath Form ( I used a 12" Styrofoam wreath)
Floral Pin for Hanging
Scissors to cut the fabric
First, I took my fabric scraps and cut them into pieces about 1" wide and 14" long. They don't need to be precise or exactly straight and even. I used 108 strips for this wreath and it was VERY full. Next, I took a strip of fabric and wrapped the strip around the wreath form and then tied a simple knot on the outside.
I kept wrapping the fabric around the wreath and knotting it. Every few strips I would push them together to make them a little tighter.
Cutting and wrapping this project is the perfect time for catching up on any television shows you are behind on! Keep wrapping and tying until the wreath is as full as you want. It doesn't have to be perfect because once it is done, it all blends together. Finally, I took a floral pin and pushed it into the back of the wreath for hanging on my command hook.
Hang the wreath on your hook and admire!
